What is In Site Designs?

In Site Designs is a full-service luxury interior design firm based in Greenville, South Carolina. Founded in 2005 by principal designer Katie Skoloff, our all-female team designs residential and commercial interiors, from new construction and complete renovations to fully furnished, turnkey spaces.

Where does In Site Designs work?

Our studio is in Greenville, SC, and we design homes and businesses throughout the Upstate and Western North Carolina. We regularly work in Greenville, The Cliffs communities, The Reserve at Lake Keowee and around Lake Keowee, Highlands and Cashiers, North Carolina, and Asheville. We also take on select projects along the South Carolina coast, including Spring Island near Beaufort.

What kinds of projects do you take on?

On the residential side we design primary homes, lake houses, mountain retreats, coastal homes, downtown condos and lofts. Our scope ranges from build selections during new construction to full renovations and full furnishings. Our commercial work includes medical and dental offices, med spas, restaurants, corporate headquarters, retail spaces and historic building renovations.

What is your design style?

We do not have one signature look. Our approach is narrative: every space is designed to tell the story of the people who live or work there. Our portfolio spans moody, collected mountain homes, organic modern lake houses, airy coastal retreats, glamorous city penthouses and historic renovations. What ties them together is layered texture, natural materials, thoughtful lighting and meaningful art and objects.

Do you work with architects and builders?

Yes. We often join a project early and collaborate with the architect and builder from concept through construction. We prepare floor plans, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, millwork and trim drawings and specification lists, and we review samples, quotes and shop drawings from subcontractors and manufacturers so the design is built as intended.

Do you help with artwork and custom pieces?

Yes. Artwork is part of how we tell a client’s story. We help clients select and place art, work with pieces they already own and love, and commission custom work, from original artwork to one-of-a-kind details like a custom rooftop wind vane and bird-shaped towel hooks. We also design custom millwork, iron doors, hoods and furniture pieces.

What does your design process look like?

Our process has three phases. First, client discovery and preliminary planning, where we learn about you and present concepts, space plans, imagery and material palettes. Second, design documentation and development, where we produce drawings and specifications and make final selections. Third, implementation, installation and reveal, where we procure, track, warehouse and install everything and deliver a turnkey, finished space.

Do you handle furniture purchasing and installation?

Yes. We make final selections for furniture, fabrics, finishes, artwork and decorative lighting, then procure, track and warehouse every item. Our team manages delivery and installation and completes a punch list walkthrough so your home or business is ready to enjoy on day one.

How long does an interior design project take?

It depends on scope. A furnishing project moves faster than a new build, where we work alongside the construction schedule from early planning to final installation. Larger custom homes can take several years from first meeting to final reveal. We map out a timeline with you during preliminary planning.

Who is on the In Site Designs team?

Katie Skoloff is the founder and principal designer and oversees every project. Chisana Hice-Smith and Ashton Acosta are lead residential designers, each with more than a decade at the firm. They are supported by a team of designers and a studio business manager.
